WHAT’S NEW IN SOCIAL
CLOSE FRIENDS, EXCEPT IT’S TWITTER
Twitter is introducing a new feature called “Twitter Circle.” This feature allows users to choose 150 people from their followers to an inner circle. It’s like Instagram’s Close Friends feature.
The feature will show a Choose Audience prompt for every time the user tweets, and they can choose their Twitter Circle or Everyone. Users now have the freedom to share a tweet, so only their “Circle” will be able to see them.
At its initial testing, a select few users can only create one circle, and every member of the circle will be able to see who made it to the cut, too.
Soon, anyone on iOS, Android, and Mac/PC can create their own Twitter Circle.
NEW LOOK FOR INSTAGRAM FEED
Instagram is adapting a Tiktok-like Feed and upsizing photos and videos on your feed to fill your screen.
It’s an immersive new experience that Adam Mosseri has shared through a new update video. Videos, or Reels, will now be shown more on your Feed, and with this new full-screen feature, it might be an enjoyable time scrolling through it.
TIKTOK LAUNCHES TIKTOK PULSE
According to a brand new blog post from TikTok, TikTok Pulse is “a new contextual advertising solution that lets advertisers place their brand next to the top content in the For You Feed.”
TikTok will now be sharing ad revenue with the top 4% of videos on the app. If you have a following of 100k and up, you’re eligible to be included. The new launch is a stage that the app strives to improve on as they continue to help its creators earn money.
YOUTUBE SHORTS, NOW WITH ADS
Speaking of ads, YouTube is testing out advertisements on their short-form video feature, YouTube Shorts.
Shorts is currently generating 30 billion views a day, according to a report from Google. And they recently placed a $100 million creator fund for it. It only took a matter of time before creators could earn money from uploading short-form videos on this vastly growing platform.

GILDED GLAMOUR FOR THE MET GALA 2022
That is the theme for this year’s Met Gala, and most celebrities understood the assignment. (Thankfully!)
Winner of Best Dressed in the hearts of everyone on the internet is none other than Blake Lively. She looked stunning in her Versace rose gold dress, inspired by the Empire State Building. But her surprise reveal was what stole the night! Unfurling her dress revealed a light turquoise colour, imitating the Statue of Liberty.
Other notable attendees are Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, Elon Musk, Hoyeon Jung, and Kim Kardashian. Kim Kardashian wore the exact dress Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 for former USA President JFK’s birthday.
SURPRISE MUSIC DROP (TAYLOR’S VERSION)
Taylor Swift has been on a roll lately when it comes to dropping music out of nowhere. She’s done it again with the release of her new (old) song This Love(Taylor’s Version), originally from her album 1989 that was released in 2014.
This happened after the trailer release of the new Amazon movie, The Summer I Turned Pretty.
The Love Story singer is currently reclaiming her masters – a boss move. She began with Red (Taylor’s Version), and now Swifties are hoping her next drop will be for 1989 (Taylor’s Version).
The dots are all connecting, and we have our fingers crossed!
